Glyph testing has encountered an issue with the Digi Mbox 2 FireWire device. Essentially, daisy chaining the device like this destroys drive performance:
host ->FW 800-> Glyph drive-> FW 400-> Mbox 2
In fact, if an Mbox2 and a Glyph drive are connected to the built-in FW ports in any combination performance will suffer significantly.
While the Mbox2 is an FW 400 device, placing is downstream of a FW 800 device should have no effect. Our investigation indicates this is a Digi problem and there is nothing we can do. It appears that the only workaround is to add a FW PCI card and connect one of the devices to it, so they are on separate buses.
